Priming and Initial Start Up of Pump

IMPORTANT: Pump crankcase should be equipped with a vent plug. If pump has been removed from machine, remove solid plug in pump crankcase and replace with vent plug to avoid damaging pump.

NOTE: To facilitate priming of pump, start at maximum rate and/or open one of the special fittings at check valve (A). Do NOT lose the diaphragm in check valve. If reassembly is required, the diaphragm requires being centered into hole in end cap assembly.

1. Open shutoff valves at filter.

2. Open shutoff valve that links left-hand and right-hand side tanks together. Open valves at bottom of tanks.

3. Partially fill tanks with water and check system for leaks.

4. Lower machine to planting position and drive 90 m to 180 m (100 yd to 200 yd).

5. Remove strainer screen and check for foreign material. Clean if necessary.

6. Check strainers at individual row unit check valves (A).

7. Select rate of fertilizer using rate charts.
