Adjusting Spring Cushion Opener Down Pressure and Operating Height
Openers are set at locations (B) and (E) which provides satisfactory down pressure and operating height for most conditions.
Moving the top pin to location (A) provides the least down pressure possible.
Location (C) provides more down pressure than (B), while location (D) gives the most down pressure available.
NOTE:
Location (F) lowers transport height by 25 mm (1 in.) and may be more susceptible to residue buildup than location (E).
NOTE:
Both lower initial opener height and more down pressure are usually required for soil compaction areas such as wheel tracks.
Location (F) for the lower pin makes the initial height of the opener lower, allowing deeper penetration in soil compaction areas such as wheel tracks.
During normal operation, the opener shank (G) should "float" above pin locations (E or F) about 13 mm (1/2 in.).
