Checking Press Wheel Alignment
IMPORTANT:
Press wheels must be in line with their corresponding standards to avoid excessive wheel wear and to maximize seed-to-soil contact.
To check overall alignment, lower openers into the ground and pull straight forward; each wheel should be riding in the middle of it's furrow.
For best seed-to-soil contact, make sure press wheels are tracking straight and are aligned with openers. Be sure that proper size gangs and offset yokes are in proper position and that eveners are attached to lift arms in correct mounting holes.
To check alignment, lower openers into ground and pull straight forward.
Each wheel should be riding in the middle of it's furrow. If wheels are not in line with furrow, loosen opener hardware and move opener into proper position.
Each press wheel gang should be tracking straight behind machine, with each side of gang tube the same distance (A) from rear frame member. If wheels are not tracking straight, loosen U-bolt (B) hardware, and adjust yoke position so each side is equal distance from rear of frame and tighten hardware.
