Unfolding Wings

NOTE: Descriptions of unfolding and folding procedures are based on optimum conditions and proper set-up of tractor hydraulic system.

In transport position, inner wings are folded against stops (A) on center frame.

IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to press wheels:

3-Section Machines: Fully extend depth control cylinders and press wheels using SCV I before wings are unfolded.

5-Section machines: Press wheels and caster wheels must be extended until outer wing caster wheels are 102 mm (4 in.) apart before unfolding.

1. 3-Section Machines: Push SCV I forward to fully extend depth control cylinders and press wheels for unfolding.

5-Section Machines: Push SCV I forward to extend press wheels and caster wheels until caster wheels are 102 mm (4 in.) apart.

NOTE: Be sure transport wheel cylinder locks are removed and service lockup valve is open before beginning unfold procedure. To aid in transport wheel lock removal, pull back on SCV II to raise wings to fully folded position.

2. Push SCV II to the front to start the unfold process. Both inner wings will simultaneously move off their stops and should reach ground at approximately the same time. With SCV II still in forward position, transport wheels will raise and then both outer wings will simultaneously move off stops.

IMPORTANT: 5-Section Only: To reduce press wheel wear due to scuffing ground, slowly drive forward as outer wings near ground.

5-Section Continued: As outer wings approach ground, begin to slowly drive forward to minimize press wheel wear.

Both outer wings should reach the ground at approximately the same time.

IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to depth control linkage, be sure depth adjustment plates are lowered between handle and stop and push handle forward against stop after adjusting.

Be sure plates do not move out of position during transport. Always check that plates are correctly positioned before beginning seeding to prevent damage to machine.

3. Check to see that depth adjustment plates are fully engaged between handle and stop and did not move out of position during transport.
