Removing Hydraulic Cylinders
CAUTION:
Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high pressure fluids.
If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar with this type of injury may call the Deere & Company Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, or other knowledgeable medical source.
1.
Fully lower wings and frame to rest openers on ground.
2.
Relieve hydraulic pressure.
CAUTION:
To avoid injury to you or others, do not have service lockup valve closed when working on depth control circuit. Circuit will maintain pressure if valve is closed.
3.
Disconnect hoses at tractor and from cylinder ports. Cover tractor outlets, cylinder ports and hose ends.
4.
Unpin cylinder(s). Check, and repair, if necessary. (See your John Deere dealer.)
CAUTION:
If wing cylinders must be removed with wings in folded position, be sure to chain wings together to prevent accidental wing fall on you or others. Before reinstalling, cylinder must be fully charged with oil. See Installing and Bleeding Wing Fold Cylinders.
