Preparing for Storage
IMPORTANT:
Wings may gradually lower, if pressure is not relieved from wing fold hydraulic systems prior to disconnecting. Fluid trapped in hydraulic system of stored machine may undergo thermal expansion as temperatures increase. Always relieve hydraulic pressure before parking or storing machine. See Attaching and Detaching Air Cart section when detaching for storage.
1.
If machine will be stored with wings in folded position, relieve hydraulic pressure in wing fold cylinders before disconnecting.
2.
Clean and store machine on a hard surface in a dry place, if possible.
3.
Lubricate frame lift, caster wheels and rockshaft bearings. (See Lubrication and Maintenance section.)
4.
Inspect for loose or damaged parts; replace and tighten as required.
5.
Repaint as necessary to prevent rust.
6.
Coat shovels with John Deere Soft Black Coating or grease or oil.
7.
Apply grease to exposed area of hydraulic cylinder rod(s).
