Product Metering

Product metering starts when drive wheel (A) is lowered to ground.

IMPORTANT: Shaft must be removed when installing roll pins to avoid damaging bearings.

Roll pins are installed in the shaft in the bottom of the tank, above the meter inlet to act as an agitator shaft (A). This shaft moves with the meter and when roll pins are installed, helps keep the product free-flowing by breaking up clumps.

On occasion, it may be advisable to run the tank completely empty and check for foreign objects (rocks, twigs, sticks, straw) that may block the meter inlet openings.

The meter door assembly (A) is made up of product handling segments that keep the product separated and isolated to it's own run. The meter wheels deliver a constant volume of product per revolution. The output of volume can be changed by varying meter speed.

Three types of meter wheels are available to handle different products and/or product delivery needs and application rates.

  • Black 16 mm- Low Rate: Used for applying low rates of sorghum.
  • Black 32 mm-Medium Rate: Used for applying medium rates of sorghum and wheat.
  • White 32 mm-High rates: Applying high-rate products like soybeans and wheat.

Ensure that proper meters are installed for product to be used.

Product size and density will affect output rate. Rate charts are based on standard density and size. To ensure best accuracy, a meter rate check should be performed when a new seed type or lot is used.

Seed treatments or innoculants will also affect output rate. Avoid using wet additives to seed. Doing so could be detrimental to population accuracy. It can cause bridging above meter or plugging in venturi/air lines. See "SEED TREATMENT RECOMMENDATIONS" in this section.

IMPORTANT: Do not power wash a machine with product in tank.

Rain shield (A) is used to help prevent water from getting into metering cups.

If water does get in while seed is in the tank, shear pin failures can be avoided by slowly turning the drive wheel manually to make sure the drive torque is not too high.

Half-width disconnects (A) are used to stop product delivery to half of the rows.
