Attaching Machine to Tractor

causym CAUTION: Help prevent personal injury caused by unexpected movement of the machine. Engage parking brake and/or place transmission in "PARK" shut off engine, and remove key before working around hitch.

1. Back tractor into position and attach hitch link to drawbar using pin. Be sure hitch pin is secured with spring strap or hex nut.

causym CAUTION: A safety chain will help control drawn equipment should it accidentally separate from the drawbar while transporting. A runaway machine could cause severe injury or death to a motorist, bystander or the operator. Using the appropriate adapter parts, attach the chain to the tractor drawbar support or other specified anchor location. Provide only enough slack in chain to permit turning. See your John Deere dealer for a chain with a strength rating equal to or greater than the gross weight of the towed machine.

2. Attach safety chain to tractor drawbar.

IMPORTANT: Fan motor case drain hose MUST be attached to low-pressure drain connection PRIOR to inlet and return hoses being connected. Case drain MUST have LESS THAN 172 kPa (1.72 bar) (25 psi) or fan motor will be damaged.

Installation of a Low-Pressure Drain Line Kit is required if towing tractor is not so equipped. Refer to LOW-PRESSURE DRAIN CONNECTION in Preparing the Tractor section for appropriate kit.

DO NOT USE other ports at the rear of the tractor (such as power-beyond ports) which may be similar in appearance and size to low-pressure drain port. Due to high back-pressure (over 172 kPa [1.72 bar] [25 psi]), drain connection to these ports WILL RESULT in fan motor damage.

3. Attach fan motor case drain hose to low-pressure drain coupler (A).

causym CAUTION: Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing serious injury. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before attaching hydraulic hoses to couplers.

Hydraulic hoses can fail due to physical damage, kinks, age and exposure. Check hoses regularly. Replace damaged hoses.

4. Plug depth control hoses (A) into SCV I.

5. Plug wing-fold hoses into SCV II.

IMPORTANT: Connect hoses so fan turns with SCV lever in forward position.

6. Plug fan hoses into SCV III.
