Leveling the Machine (Drawbar Hitch)

NOTE: Periodically check machine to be certain hitch tube (A) and planting units (B) are running parallel to the ground. Frame adjustment may be more accurate when performed in field soil conditions.

NOTE: If center of the machine is too high or low, it may be necessary to rephase hydraulic wheel lift system. Completely lower machine and hold SCV lever for several seconds to rephase.

1. Set any adjustable downforce system to zero pressure.

2. Lower machine on level ground.

3. Place hitch/marker switch (C) in the HITCH position.

4. Completely retract drawbar hitch cylinder (A).

5. With machine in planting position and adjustable downforce systems set to zero pressure, check clearance from bottom of main frame tube to the ground. If frame is not 510 to 560 mm (20 to 22 in.) above ground, see ADJUSTING FRAME HEIGHT in this section before continuing this procedure.

6. Check to see if hitch tube is parallel with ground. If hitch is not level, proceed with remaining steps.

7. Raise hitch enough to lower jack stands and disconnect from tractor.

NOTE: It may be necessary to install safety chain cap screw below clevis, if clevis needs to be in highest position for leveling.

8. Reposition clevis (A) as needed to obtain level running position.

IMPORTANT: Cap screws must be tightened before a load is placed on hitch, to obtain accurate, required torque values.

9. Tighten clevis cap screws (B) and safety chain cap screw (C) to specification.

Cap Screws - Specification

Clevis -Torque 597 N·m (440 lb-ft)
Safety Chain -Torque 325 N·m (240 lb-ft)

10. Attach tractor to drawbar, raise jackstands and retract drawbar cylinder completely.

11. Check to see if hitch tube is parallel with ground. If hitch is not level, repeat procedure until clevis is in correct position for level operation.

12. When planting, parallel arms (A) should be parallel to the ground or angled slightly upward toward frame.

Periodically check machine to be certain planting units are running level.

If center of the machine is too high or low, it may be necessary to rephase hydraulic wheel lift system.
