Connecting Hydraulics to 55-60 Series Row-Crop Tractors (General Information)
CAUTION:
Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing serious injury to you or others. Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure. Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hand and body from high pressure fluids.
If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result.
CAUTION:
Hydraulic hoses can fail due to physical damage, kinks, age and exposure. Check hoses regularly and replace as necessary.
IMPORTANT:
Fan motor case drain hose (A) MUST be attached to low-pressure drain connection PRIOR to other hoses being connected. Case drain MUST have LESS THAN 172 kPa (1.72 bar) (25 psi) or fan motor will be damaged.
IMPORTANT:
Installation of a Low-Pressure Drain Line Kit is required if towing tractor is not so equipped.
All 55-60 series tractors should be equipped with selective control valve lever stops to hold SCV levers in forward position when running continuous flow planter functions.
SCV lever should be pushed into "float" position to turn vacuum and variable rate drive off, not to neutral. The tractor flow control valve must be set to maximum. The in-line planter flow control valve is used to control vacuum level and SEEDSTAR
system is used to control variable rate drive.
