Machine Folded

IMPORTANT: Before performing any of these checks, be sure hydraulic SCV's are set to maximum flow, frame control console has power (backlight is on), cleanout switch is set to PLANT position, and the proper buttons are being pushed for the desired function to be performed.

Symptom Problem Solution

Machine not functioning. (Tractor engine must be running.)

Control console not powered.

Check electrical connections at 7-pin connector (tractor and machine side).

Check inline fuses to frame control box.

Pressure and return hoses not fully engaged in SCV outlets.

-

Machine will not unfold.

-

Refer to UNFOLDING PLANTER in Transporting section for proper procedure to unfold planter.

Y8 solenoid not energizing.

Check for 12V at the solenoid.

Check solenoid.

Y8 valve stuck closed.

Clean or replace valve.

Rockshafts are up or faulty fold switch on right-hand wing.

Lower rockshafts or adjust/replace fold switch on right-hand wing.

Machine unfolds when not selected.

NOTE: If machine is more than half way unfolded (pivot area fold switches closed), the frame control box in PLANT, and machine is lowered, the machine will unfold. This is normal operation.

Fold switch malfunctioning (switch located in pivot area).

See your John Deere dealer.

Y8 valve is stuck open.

Symptom Problem Solution

Clean or replace valve.

Machine will not raise or lower.

Frame control box PLANT/TRANS switch is in PLANT position.

Place switch in TRANS position.

Check pins 1 and 7 on tractor/planter 7 pin connector for 12 volts.

See your John Deere Dealer.

Inspect F3 10 amp fuse in frame control harness.

Replace as needed.

Y1, Y22, Y23, Y24, Y25 solenoids is not energizing or is stuck.

Check for 12V at the solenoid.

Clean or replace valves.

Check K34 relay.

See RELAY AND FUSE LOCATION in Service section. Replace as needed.

Machine will not raise to high lift.

Y22, Y23, Y24, Y25 solenoids not energized.

Check for 12V at the solenoids.

Rockshafts come down without pushing ROW-LIFT button.

This is normal when activating SCV when lowering frame or unfolding.

Rockshafts lower when SCV is activated to lower frame or unfold. Install service locks to keep rockshafts from lowering when lowering frame or unfolding machine.

Machine unlevel.

Hydraulics out of phase.

Lower machine in folded position. Refer to LOWERING/RAISING MACHINE IN TRANSPORT POSITION FOR FILLING AND/OR SERVICING in Transporting section.

In transport position, wing wheels won't retract.

One of the following solenoid valves is malfunctioning: Y1, Y22, Y23, Y24 or Y25.

Verify Y1, Y22, Y23, Y24 or Y25 are all energized.

Clean or replace valve.

See your John Deere dealer.
