Prepare PRO-SERIES XP™ Meters

Use of the following seed disks require double notch brush and double eliminator in vacuum meter before operation:

  • ProMax 40 (formerly called large sweet corn disk)
  • Small Sweet Corn
  • Flat Edible Bean

Knockout wheel assembly also is installed for these disks.

Listed are the crops and disks that require double notch brush, double eliminator, and knockout wheel assembly installed in all meters using these disks.

Procedures to install double notch brush, double eliminator, and knockout wheel are explained in the following steps.

1. Open vacuum meter and remove seed disk.

2. Firmly hold brush holder (A) against meter housing with one hand while pulling brush from holder with other hand.

3. Install appropriate brush.

  • Install single notch brush (B) when double eliminator is NOT used.

    IMPORTANT: Double notch brush (C) must be installed as shown.

  • Install double notch brush (C) when double eliminator IS used.

NOTE: The knockout wheel (A) is used to release irregular shaped seeds and foreign material from vacuum hole. 4. Loosen screw (B) and remove wiper assembly (C).

5. Install knockout assembly (D) with screw (B).

NOTE: When closing dome, verify that wheel is aligned with track on seed disk.

6. There are two double eliminator plates available. The ProMax 40 and small sweet corn disks use the plate with the characters CORN stamped on the side. The edible bean disk has the part number stamped on the side.

Install or change double eliminator plates as follows:

7. Remove screw (A), bushing (B), and existing plate (C). Save screw, bushing, and existing plate for reuse.

NOTE: Edible bean plate is not shipped with machine. Order from your John Deere™ dealer.

8. Position plate (A) over stud (B).

IMPORTANT: Make sure screw and bushing are fully tightened against housing.

9. Install bushing (C) and screw (D). Tighten screw to specification.

Specification

Double Eliminator Plate Screw -Torque 2 N·m (20 lb.-in.)

10. Install seed disk.

11. Close and latch meter door.
