Use of Powdered Graphite with Radial Bean Meter
IMPORTANT:
Some insecticide-treated seed is coated with commercially applied graphite. It is important that the recommended amount of graphite be added in addition to graphite already on the seed.
IMPORTANT:
Regular use of powdered graphite reduces wear of metering components and prolongs life of meter. Graphite will filter down into radial bean meter and insure proper lubrication. John Deere Graphite provides a dry lubrication. Some types have an oil base and will form a gummy residue on parts. Graphite does not eliminate need for proper and regular lubrication indicated in lubrication charts.
NOTE:
Any additives other than John Deere powdered graphite in radial bean meters may leave residue on parts that could affect planting rates.
NOTE:
If graphite is building up in bottom of hopper, reduce amount accordingly.
Add powdered graphite into each hopper of soybeans at the following rate per fill.
| Max Emerge Hopper Graphite Application Rate |
| Hopper Size |
Amount of Graphite |
| 58 L (1.6 bu.) |
15 mL (1 Tbls.) |
| 106 L (3 bu.) |
30 mL (2 Tbls.) |
| 22.7 kg (50 lb) Soybean Bag |
15 mL (1 Tbls.) or (0.5 oz) |
With rough-textured soybeans or treated soybeans, extra graphite added regularly with seed will improve seed flow into meter.
