Use of Powdered Graphite with Finger Pick-Up
IMPORTANT:
Some insecticide-treated seed is coated with commercially applied graphite. It is important that the recommended amount of graphite be added in addition to graphite already on the seed.
IMPORTANT:
Graphite will filter down into finger pick-up mechanism and insure proper lubrication. John Deere Graphite provides a dry lubrication. Some types have an oil base and will form a gummy residue on parts. Graphite does not eliminate need for proper and regular lubrication indicated in lubrication charts.
IMPORTANT:
When using the meters the first time each season, in addition to adding graphite to CCS tanks, add 9 mL (0.6 Tbls.) or (0.3 oz) to each row unit.
Add powdered graphite to each bulk hopper at the following rate per fill:
| CCS Graphite Application Rate |
| CCS Tank Size |
Amount of Graphite Per Fill |
| 1233 L (35 bu.) Bulk Tank |
328 mL (22 Tbls.) or (11 oz) |
| 1762 L (50 bu.) Bulk Tank |
470 mL (32 Tbls.) or (16 oz) |
| 80,000 Kernel Seed Corn Unit |
15 mL (1 Tbls.) or (0.5 oz) |
| CCS Insecticide Treated Seed |
| CCS Tank Size |
Amount of Graphite Per Fill |
| 1233 L (35 bu.) Bulk Tank |
500 mL (2 Cups) or (17 oz) |
| 1762 L (50 bu.) Bulk Tank |
740 mL (3 cups) or (25 oz) |
| 80,000 Kernel Seed Corn Unit |
15 mL (1 Tbls.) or (0.5 oz) |
NOTE:
If graphite is building up in bottom of hopper, reduce amount accordingly.
Add powdered graphite into each hopper at the following rate per fill.
