IMPORTANT: Check the following items first:

Hydraulic SCVs set to maximum flow.

Frame control console has power (backlight is on).

Cleanout switch set in PLANT position.

Proper function selected on frame control console.

Symptom Problem Solution

Machine not functioning. (Tractor engine must be running and console power light on.)

Control console not powered.

Check electrical connections at 7-pin connector. Check tractor 7-pin connector, clean if necessary.

Check inline fuses to frame control box.

Pressure and return hoses not fully engaged in SCV outlets.

Erratic or uneven lift.

Lift cylinders out of phase.

Completely lower machine and rephase hydraulic system.

Machine does not raise.

Pilot operated check valve 10A and or 10D stuck.

Clean valve. See your John Deere dealer.

Tractor SCV bypassing oil.

Adjust SCV lever linkage. (See Tractor Operator's Manual.)

Valve S1 not energizing.

Check for 12 V DC at the solenoid.

Check solenoid.

Valve S1 stuck closed.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine will not lower.

Pilot operated check valve 10C and or 10B stuck.

Clean valve. See your John Deere dealer.

Machine does not raise or lower.

Solenoid S1 not energizing.

Check for 12 V DC at solenoid.

See your John Deere dealer.

Valve S1 stuck closed.

Check for 12 V DC at the solenoid.

Wings are higher than center frame when lowered.

Tractor hydraulic pressure inadequate for planter.

S2 or S3 valves stuck.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine lowers unevenly and center down first.

Clean or replace valve.

Rephase valve on wings malfunctioning.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine lowers unevenly with wings down first.

Rephase valve on main frame malfunctioning.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine raises or lowers unevenly from side to side.

Defective or stuck flow divider valve.

Clean or replace valve.

See your John Deere dealer.

Machine does not fold.

PLANT-TRANS switch in PLANT position.

Switch to TRANS position.

S9 solenoid not energizing.

Check solenoid for 12 V.

Check solenoid.

S9 valve stuck closed.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine folds when not selected.

S9 valve is stuck open.

Clean or replace valve.

Machine folds too fast.

Verify there is an orifice fitting in the rod end of the fold cylinders.

Install orifice fitting if missing.

Machine frame unequal. (Left wing frame higher or lower than right wing frame.)

Frame lift cylinders out of phase.

Completely lower machine and rephase hydraulic system.

Machine center frame higher than wing frames.

Service locks on center frame wheels.

Remove service locks.

Frame lift cylinders out of phase.

Completely lower machine and rephase hydraulic system.

Excessive attachment and planting unit down force.

Reduce down force on row unit and openers (attachments).

Symptom Problem Solution

Too much down force.

Reduce down force.

SCV set to constant detent in up position for extended period of time.

Return SCV to neutral position when raised.

Wings bulldoze in soft soil conditions.

Frame height to low.

Increase frame height with wheel module adjustment.

Unit furrowers, disk openers, gauge wheels, or transport wheels must rotate freely.

Planting too fast.

Reduce operating speed.

Hitch too low.

Raise and level hitch.

Too much down force.

Reduce down force.
