Engage Standard Meter System or Micrometer
The micrometer system is suited for fine seed and extremely small quantities of seed per hectare. The standard system meters normal seed or fine seed at normal speed.
To meter fine seed or extremely small quantities of seed with the micrometer system, pull out the red gearwheel (A) until it engages.
IMPORTANT:
Check the cleaning brush before sowing fine seed.
Installed on the inside of the seed meter housing is a cleaning brush (B) for the fine seed cells. The brush prevents clogged cells when seed has been treated with a sticky dressing. The brush is located under the cover plate of the venturi cone, behind the gearwheels.
To meter normal seed or fine seed at normal speeds, engage the gray gearwheel (C).
Settings in the calibration chart for fine seed are shown with normal speed gear or micrometer gear. Settings in the calibration chart for normal seed are shown with normal speed gear.
The advantage of the micrometer, when handling fine seed, is that the cell is twice as wide as the standard system for the same seed rate. The extra cell width enhances the self-cleaning properties of the cells.
