1.
Use recommended size tractor (see Specifications section).
2.
Operate at a ground speed of 6-10 km/h (4-6 mph).
3.
Raise openers out of ground before backing up.
4.
Start moving forward before lowering openers.
5.
Raise openers when making sharp turns in field.
6.
Adjust openers individually to equalize seeding depth.
7.
Turn feed shaft BY HAND before adding seed if drill has been standing for a long period of time. If treated seed is used, turn shaft whenever drill has been standing for an hour or longer.
8.
Handle and apply chemically treated seeds according to manufacturer's recommendations.
9.
Check tire pressure before seeding.
|
10.
Check seed rates.
11.
Lower openers partially when storing drill to prevent seed and/or moisture buildup in seed boots.
IMPORTANT:
To avoid metal corrosion and feed shaft binding or "freezing", clean out all treated seed in box before storing drill (even over night).
12.
Check seed placement periodically and when conditions change. Repeat adjustments as needed to achieve proper seed placement.
Each adjustment is dependent on soil conditions and each adjustment can affect other adjustments. Proper adjustment of all items is essential to achieve desired seed placement. It is best to start with minimum material in the drill seed hopper so that the need for additional drill ballast can be determined.
