Preparing Monitors
Constants necessary for monitor to make proper calculations
are row spacing, number of rows and a distance calibration.
Distance calibration is important. Accurate populations, areas,
and speed are just some factors dependent upon distance calibration.
Calibration must be performed under actual field planting conditions
to account for wheel slippage and other factors.
Examples used throughout this book show planter populations
as seeds per acre. All calculations are set in ENGLISH units.
