QUIK-FILL™ Liquid Fertilizer Attachment

The QUIK-FILL Liquid Fertilizer Attachment allows single point filling of the fertilizer system.

The fertilizer tanks each hold approximately 568 L (150 gal) on an 8-row planter, and 852 L (225 gal) on a 12-row planter. Each planter has two tanks. The fertilizer is distributed to the fertilizer openers by a piston pump.

causym CAUTION: Agricultural chemicals can be dangerous. Improper selection or use can injure persons, animals, plants, soil or other properly. TO AVOID INJURY, select the right chemical for the job. Handle and apply it with care. Follow instructions of the chemical manufacturer. Check all valves, fittings, hose clamps, plugs, and caps for tightness and soundness before admitting liquid fertilizer to the system. Check again at regular intervals and replace hoses when worn, cracked, or leaking.

Excessive pressure can cause tank rupture. Monitor tank fill and shut off nurse tank pump when attachment tanks are full.

NOTE: The Liquid Fertilizer System will fill at the rate of 227 L to 264 L (60 gal to 70 gal) per minute. The fill rate can be achieved with a 40 mm (1.5 in.) centrifugal pump and a 2.2 kW to 3.7 kW (3 hp to 5 hp) gasoline engine on the nurse tank.

If a 50 mm (2 in.) centrifugal pump is used with a 3.7 kW to 5.5 kW (5 hp to 7.5 hp) gasoline engine, it is recommended that the engine be run at half throttle.

NOTE: When operating on hillsides, to prevent fertilizer from transferring to, and over filling the down hill tank, the valve in the uphill tank may be closed.

To fill liquid fertilizer tanks, proceed as follows:

1. Turn fill valve to closed position.

NOTE: After initial filling tanks, it may be necessary to retighten hardware on tank hold down straps due to tanks setting in cradles.

6. After fertilizer tanks have been filled, shut off pump engine on nurse tank, close shut-off valve (B) at fill point and close valve on nurse tank.

7. Remove nurse tank hose from machine by releasing latch handles (A).
