Adjust Gauge Wheel Position

The fertilizer opener gauge wheel can be positioned in the forward hole to provide additional clearance for planter attachments and countershaft clutches. The forward hole must be used if planter is equipped with frame mounted coulters. Perform the following steps to adjust gauge wheel position.

1. On left-hand openers (A), cap screw has left-hand threads. On right-hand openers (B), cap screw has right-hand threads.

2. Remove dust cap (A) and cap screw (B).

NOTE: Position of the gauge wheel also affects depth slightly. With the wheel in the forward position, the depth is slightly deeper.

3. Move gauge wheel to optional mounting location (A) on arm.

4. Install cap screw and tighten to specification.

Specification

Gauge Wheel Attaching Cap Screw -Torque 190 N·m (140 lb-ft)

5. Install dust cap.

6. Adjust opener depth. See ADJUSTING OPENER DEPTH in this section.
