Use of Powdered Graphite with Finger Pick-Up

IMPORTANT: Some insecticide-treated seed is coated with commercially applied graphite. It is important to add the recommended amount of graphite, in addition to graphite already on the seed.

IMPORTANT: Graphite filters down into finger pick-up mechanism to insure proper lubrication. Some graphite types have an oil base and form a gummy residue. John Deere Graphite provides dry lubrication. Graphite does not eliminate need for proper and regular lubrication.

IMPORTANT: When using meters the first time each season, add 9 mL (0.6 Tbls.) or (0.3 oz.) to each row unit.

NOTE: If graphite is building up in bottom of hopper, reduce amount accordingly.

Add powdered graphite into each hopper at the following rate per fill.

MaxEmerge Hopper Graphite Application Rate
Hopper Size Amount of Graphite
58 L (1.6 bu.) 15 mL (1 Tbls.)
106 L (3 bu.) 30 mL (2 Tbls.)
80,000 Kernel Seed Corn Unit 15 mL (1 Tbls.) or (0.5 oz.)
Insecticide Treated Seed
80,000 Kernel Seed Corn Unit 15 mL (1 Tbls.) or (0.5 oz.)

NOTE: Every seed should be visibly gray when coated properly.
