Row Cleaner for Unit Mounted Coulter

causym CAUTION: Avoid injury. Row cleaner blades are sharp. Safely support machine before service.

IMPORTANT: Avoid machine damage. Pin (A) must be installed through bracket (B), below or through arm (C).

Ground conditions, depth adjustment, and ground speed affect the width of path cleared.

Operate at sufficient speed 6.5-9.5 km/h (4-6 mph) to maintain good residue flow.

Do not expect 100% removal of crop residue. Complete residue removal is not necessary. Complete removal requires engagement of soil, which is not recommended.

Expect cleaners to stop turning occasionally when row cleaners are properly adjusted above soil surface.

Adjust row unit down force to match residue conditions and maintain desired seed depth.

Adjust planter frame height and level planter for proper row cleaner operation (See Prepare Machine section).

If the residue clearing action is too aggressive, standard tine tooth wheels are available from your dealer.

Floating Operation Rigid Operation Operation Without Coulter
Place pin (A) through bracket (B) in the lowest hole possible, so blades engage residue and not soil. Install pin so arm (C) rides on top of pin and is allowed to float upward over obstacles.
Test for proper operation and continue to adjust until height is correct. Note the hole used and set remaining row cleaners to same position. Verify correct operation of all row cleaners.		 When pinned rigid, contact with obstacles can raise entire row unit and alter seed depth. Only use rigid operation when necessary.
If residue is too heavy and row cleaners float over the residue, place pin (A) through bracket (B) and arm (C) for rigid operation. Adjust blades just above soil surface.
Test for proper operation and continue to adjust until height is correct. Note the hole used and set remaining row cleaners to same position. Verify correct operation of all row cleaners.		 If the soil is dry on top but moist underneath and the coulter blade is lifting mud to the surface, mud can accumulate on the gauge wheels and alter the seed depth. Either raise the coulter slightly, use a less aggressive blade, or remove coulter in these soil conditions.
If coulter blade is removed, reposition row cleaner wheels to a staggered orientation. On right-hand side of planter, reposition right-hand wheel and scraper to front set of holes. On left-hand side of planter, reposition left-hand wheel and scraper to front set of holes. If coulter is reinstalled, return row cleaner wheels and scrapers to rear holes.
