Changing Spring Down Pressure

CAUTION: Avoid serious injury to hands and feet resulting from opener blades. Always wear gloves when working on or around opener blades. Keep hands and feet from under opener blades while making adjustments and/or servicing.

NOTE: Two settings, regular and lighter, are available for each spring combination.

Regular-duty spring (green) is recommended for most soil conditions.

Heavy-duty spring (black) is recommended for hard soil conditions to maintain soil penetration.

Minor Adjustment: Raise machine until fertilizer openers are slightly out of ground.

Remove pin (B).

NOTE: Position pin (B) and upper spring casting (E) in front hole (C) for lighter spring pressure setting. Position pin (B) and upper spring casting (E) in rear hole (D) for regular spring pressure setting.

Install pin (B) in desired hole (C or D).

Major Adjustment: Raise machine until fertilizer openers are slightly out of ground.

Loosen cap screw (A) until pressure is relieved from spring.

Remove pin (B).

Remove casting (E) and spring from cap screw (A).

Install desired spring and casting (E) onto cap screw (A).

Install pin (B) and casting (E) into desired hole (C or D).

Tighten cap screw (A) to specification.
