    Drill Bit Method

    A - Screw

    B - Notch

C - Shank of 2.5 mm (3/32 in.) Drill Bit

    D - Adjustment Tool

Loosen double eliminator screw (A). Double eliminator must move freely.

  2. Ensure double eliminator is set for ProMax 40 disk. (See INSTALL DOUBLE ELIMINATOR in this section.)

  3. Install a ProMax 40 disk in meter.

  4. Turn handle clockwise to latch disk in place.

  5. Rotate disk until screw (A) is centered in notch (B) of disk.

  6. NOTE: Contact your John Deere™ dealer for adjustment tool JDG10965.

Insert adjustment tool (D) or shank of a 2.5 mm (3/32 in.) drill bit (C) into disk hole.

  7. Position double eliminator against tool or drill bit, so highest ridge on double eliminator is in light contact with tool or drill bit.

  8. Press firmly on disk, double eliminator, and cam nut. Tighten screw so double eliminator cannot move.

  9. Remove tool or drill bit. Double eliminator is now set for 50 percent hole coverage.

  10. A setting with 50 percent hole coverage is optimal for most sizes of field corn. For extremely small or large seeds, loosen screw (A) and turn cam nut to increase or decrease hole coverage. The objective is to adjust the double eliminator to dislodge one of two seeds covering a single hole while allowing single seeds covering a single hole to pass by undisturbed. When double eliminator is in position, tighten screw.

    A - Disk

    B - Inspection Area

Seed disk must turn smoothly with light contact. A small gap between seed disk and housing is acceptable. Seed must not pass between disk and meter. To improve inspection process, place a small amount of seed in meter.

Turn seed disk (A) by hand and inspect gap between disk and meter in area (B). If disk turns too hard or if seed passes through gap, adjust hub position. (See ADJUST METER HUB in this section.)

  12. Close meter and attach to hopper using wing nuts previously removed.

  13. Set all rows the same.

  14. Plant a short distance, then perform a field check to determine seed delivery and meter performance. Adjust individual meters as necessary.
