  1. NOTE: Always level main frame before leveling wings.

NOTE: Always perform procedure on inner wings before outer wings on five section machines.

    A - Gauge Wheel

Select a level area in field.

  2. NOTE: The gauge wheels are not intended for depth control. They are only there to dampen oscillation and prevent wing dipping.

Set inner and outer wing gauge wheel ratchet jacks to initial setting.

    ItemMeasurementSpecification
Inner Wing Gauge Wheel Ratchet (center of pin to center of pin) Distance60.3 cm (23-3/4 in.)
Outer Wing Gauge Wheel Ratchet (center of pin to center of pin) Distance59 cm (23-1/4 in.)

  3. Pull the seeder about 5 m (15 ft.) with machine lowered to the desired working depth and then stop with the machine still lowered.

  4. Measure the working depth behind tips at two locations on outer end of wing frame section. (See MEASURE PRODUCT DEPTH in this section.)

NOTE: Verify the depth of several tips, since tip length varies slightly.

    A - Eyebolt

If wing depths are different from main frame depth, adjust eyebolt (A) on wing wheel cylinder.

  6. Repeat steps 2 and 5 until the wing depths equal the main frame depth.

    A - Gauge Wheel Adjustment

Lower the gauge wheels so they just contact the ground.

  8. Loosen jam nut and adjust the ratchet turnbuckle (A). Tighten jam nut after adjustment.

NOTE: 25 mm (1 in.) of thread change on the ratchet turnbuckle moves the wheel vertically 25 mm (1 in.)

  9. Repeat procedure on outer wings for 5-section machines.
