A - Gauge

B - Notch—MAX Notch, 25 cm (10 in.) w/marker

C - Notch—19 cm (7.5 in.) w/marker, Notch—25 cm (10 in.) w/o marker

D - Notch—15 cm (6 in.) w/marker, Notch—19 cm (7.5 in.) w/o marker

E - Notch—15 cm (6 in.) w/o marker

F - Notch—No pressure

G - Spring Cup

To determine the amount of down-pressure on openers, check gauge (A) located on opener spring on either side of turnbuckle. The gauge is marked with five notches, (B), (C), (D), (E) and (F). With NO load on openers, TOP of spring cup (G) will line up with LOWEST notch (F). As opener pressure is INCREASED, springs will compress and spring cup will move up the gauge.

NOTE: Never operate openers with the spring cup above the top notch (B) as opener damage may occur.

The additional notches are provided to establish a recommended operating range for varying machine sizes. Operating the machine within this range will insure that the gauge wheel maintains contact with the ground surface and the seed meters drive under all conditions.

Under certain ground conditions or if seed is left in the hoppers, the pressure may increase above the recommended area. When operating with pressure adjusted above recommended notch, monitor the rotation of drive shafts to insure that drive wheels are turning at the proper speed.

  1. NOTE: To INCREASE down-pressure, lengthen turnbuckle.

    To DECREASE down-pressure, shorten turnbuckle.
