Filling Seed Delivery Tanks

CAUTION: When transporting machine on roadways, tanks must be empty.

Do not open lids when CCS blower is running. Lids and harmful chemicals can be blown into face and seed lines can plug.

Follow chemical manufacturers precautions when handling parts coated with seed treatments. Use proper skin, eye, and respiratory protection.

IMPORTANT: Cleanout any buildup of seed treatments or talc between tank fills.

Keep seed free of debris. Debris can cause blockage at nozzles. Optional fill screen is available, see your John Deere dealer.

The very first time a new tank is used, coat the inside bottom of bulk tanks with a thin layer of talc. Mix triple the amount of talc into the first two or three bushels of seed placed in bulk tank (See USE OF TALC LUBRICANT in your Rate Charts and Settings Operator's Manual). This will coat the inside of CCS system and hoses with a protective layer of talc, to resist buildup of seed coatings.

Avoid plugging delivery hoses at tank. Tank agitators can run when machine is lowered and tractor key is on. Agitator operation without fan air flow causes some seed types to plug in hoses at tank. If machine is lowered for extended periods with seed in tank, turn tractor key off or unplug agitator.

See USE OF TALC LUBRICANT in Operating Vacuum Meter section.

For best performance, level off seed in tanks after filling to minimize amount of seed remaining in tanks when planting ends. Recommend using a 203 mm (8 in.) wide, stiff bristled broom with 1372 mm (4.5 ft.) handle to level seed when tanks are full and after low tank level sensor warning light comes on.

Close lids tightly after filling to avoid plugging of delivery lines when system is activated.
