IMPORTANT: DO NOT put SCV lever in FLOAT when raising and lowering
machine. Correct procedure for raising and lowering machine is to
POWER completely UP or DOWN.
To prevent plugging of seed
tubes or seed openers, lower the machine when moving forward.
DO NOT back up with machine lowered.
For proper machine operation, it is important that the machine
frame be fully lowered into correct planting position. Achieving this
position can be difficult with some attachment combinations, especially
when planting in hard to penetrate soil conditions. If this situation
is encountered, the following action is warranted:
Reduce attachment down force levels. Avoid using more attachment
down force than required.
Use recommended size tractor.
-
Be sure tractor and machine have been properly prepared. See
Preparing Tractor and Preparing Machine sections.
-
Check seed and fertilizer rates carefully.
-
Check tire pressure before seeding.
-
Allow tractor hydraulic oil to warm up thoroughly before seeding.
Cold oil can cause slower fan speeds.
-
IMPORTANT: Precipitation or debris may enter outer wing row
unit hoppers, meters, and seed tube components while in the folded
position. Avoid prolonged storage or transport in conditions where
precipitation or debris may enter outer wing row unit hoppers, meters,
and seed tube components while in the folded position. Check outer
wing row unit hoppers, meters, and seed tube components for any trapped
precipitation or debris that may have entered while in the folded
position. Clean components as necessary before operation.
Run CCS fan at recommended speed; excessive speed can cause
increased wear on air system and damage seed.
-
Whenever machine has been standing for an hour or more during
period of high humidity or damp, rainy days, or after sitting overnight,
run CCS fan at recommended rpm, with machine stationary for 10 minutes.
-
Use clean seed for best results.
