A - Strainer
A strainer (A) prevents obstructions in manifolds, nozzles, and orifices. It also prevents damage to piston pump, manifold, and check valves. An 80 mesh main strainer is recommended. Inspect and clean strainer after initial start up, daily, and as required thereafter.An increased pressure reading on the pressure gauge is an indication of an obstruction. Obstructions cause inconsistent delivery to openers.
If fertilizer with a high solid content is plugging the 80 mesh strainer frequently, a less restrictive 50 mesh strainer is available, but this may result in more frequent obstructions with in-line orifices. See your John Deere dealer.
