A - Walking Gauge Wheels Attachment

The walking gauge-wheel attachment (A) should be used in rocky conditions or in fields with rough surface conditions due to soil clods or residue. In these conditions, the walking gauge-wheel reduces vertical movement of opener when one gauge wheel rolls over a solid obstacle. Reduced opener movement increases seed depth control.

Walking action is reduced when planting very deep or very shallow.

Walking gauge wheels are not for light soil or well-tilled soil conditions. In these conditions, gauge wheels can run at different heights relative to each other. This results in poor seed-depth consistency and possible poor closing action which may affect emergence.
