Planting in high residue field conditions can cause pieces of crop residue to build up in the vacuum meter. Meter inlet screens (B) are available from a John Deere™ dealer to prevent crop residue from entering the meter.

To install:

  1. Remove hopper and meter from row unit (refer to ACCESSING THE VACUUM METER in this section).

  2. Loosen meter nuts (A) and remove meter from hopper.

  3. Place inlet screen (B) onto hopper and align with tabs (C).

  4. Replace meter and tighten meter nuts.

  5. Install meter and hopper on row unit.
