Raising and Lowering Machine

IMPORTANT: On machines with single lever control, DO NOT put SCV lever into “Float” when raising and lowering. The correct procedure for raising and lowering is to POWER completely UP or DOWN.

IMPORTANT: To prevent plugging of seed tubes or seed openers, lower the machine only when moving forward.

IMPORTANT: Damage to machine can occur when mast is improperly adjusted. See LEVELING—MACHINES EQUIPPED WITH PIVOTING CENTER MAST in this section.

There are various ways to raise the machine depending on mast configuration and hydraulic hookup.

Integral Machines With Rigid Mast

Raise and lower machine with tractor rockshaft control.

Machines with No Mast or Pivoting Mast and Lift-Assist Wheels

WITHOUT SINGLE LEVER CONTROL: The front of the machine is raised and lowered with the rockshaft and the rear of the machine is raised and lowered with an SCV. Raise both the front and rear at the same time. Recommend using IMS (Implement Management System) on 8010 series (or later) tractors to synchronize the hitch and SCV. See your tractor operator's manual.

WITH SINGLE LEVER SCV CONTROL: A hydraulic hose kit can be installed so the front and rear of the machine is raised and lowered with one SCV lever. See your John Deere dealer.

IMPORTANT: The following is not applicable to 1720 CCS planter.

WITH LIFT ASSIST WHEELS CONNECTED TO HITCH CONTROL: A hydraulic hose kit can be installed so the front and rear of machine is raised and lowered with rockshaft control lever only. When lowered, the lift assist wheels remain on the ground with this system. See your John Deere dealer.
