Strainer Maintenance

A - Strainer
To prevent damage to piston pump see Storage section for
recommendations on storage procedures.
IMPORTANT: All nurse tanks should be equipped with strainers
to prevent contamination.
Proper filtering of liquid fertilizer is important to prevent
obstruction of orifices and damage to piston pump. An 80 mesh (AA40216)
main strainer (A) is provided as standard equipment and is located
in the line to the bottom of pump. It should be checked and cleaned
after initial start-up, daily or as required thereafter.
Fertilizer with excessive contamination can cause increased
frequency of main strainer clean out requirements. Should frequent
clean out of strainer become unacceptable, a coarser 50 mesh screen
strainer (AA40215) is available through service parts. Using this
coarser main strainer can cause increased frequency of obstructions
with in-line orifices. These strainers are also available through
service parts. See your John Deere dealer.
