12 and 16 Row Markers

IMPORTANT: Before performing any of these checks, verify hydraulic SCVs are set to maximum flow, frame control console has power (backlight is on), cleanout switch is set to “Plant” position, and the proper buttons are pushed for the desired function .

Marker floats off ground.

Machine not down.

Machine must be fully lowered for proper marker operation.

Markers not alternating in automatic mode.

Marker alternating switch on wheel module seven out of adjustment.

Fully raise machine and check marker alternating switch adjustment. See ADJUST MARKER ALTERNATING SWITCH in Service and Adjustments section.

Left marker lowers when not selected.

Valve S5 stuck open.

Check for 12 volts at solenoid.

Check solenoid.

Right marker lowers when not selected.

Valve S6 stuck open.

Check for 12 volts at solenoid.

Check solenoid.

Left marker will not lower.

No power to control box.

Check seven pin connector.

Check in-line fuses.

 

Valve S5 not energized.

Check for 12 volts at solenoid.

Check solenoid.

 

Valve S5 is stuck closed.

Clean or replace valve.

 

Check position of switches on frame control box.

Activate correct switches.

 

Check frame fold switch in pivot area.

Broken wires.

Carrier damaged or jammed.

Right marker will not lower.

No power to control box.

Check seven pin connector.

Check inline fuses.

 

Valve S6 not energized.

Check for 12 volts at solenoid.

Check solenoid.

 

Valve S6 is stuck closed.

Clean or replace valve.

 

Check position of switches on frame control box.

Activate correct switches.

 

Check frame fold switch in pivot area.

Wires damaged or cut.

Carrier jammed.

Marker lowers and disk blade is forced into the ground.

Marker cylinder is not floating in J-slot.

Lengthen marker hydraulic hoses.

Marker operating too fast.

Verify that there is an orifice fitting in the rod end of the cylinder.

Install orifice fitting in rod end of the cylinder.

 

Air in hydraulic system.

Disconnect and cycle cylinder to eliminate air.

Shear bolt shears too often.

Marker disk angle too aggressive.

Reduce angle of marker disk blade. See ADJUST MARKER DISK in Service and Adjustments section.

Cannot see marker mark in field.

Marker disk angle not aggressive enough.

Increase angle of marker disk blade. See ADJUST MARKER DISK in Service and Adjustments section.
