Replace Seed Opener Blades and BrushBelt Guard

  1. IMPORTANT: Avoid premature wear. Do not use a new blade with a used blade. Install new blades in pairs.

    NOTE: If only replacing BrushBelt™ cartridge guard, only left-hand blade removal is needed.

    A - Cap Screw

    B - Pivot Shaft

    Remove cap screw (A), pivot shaft (B,) and gauge wheel from row unit.

    C - Hub Cap

    Planting unit equipped with rigid scraper (A), remove and retain cap screw (B) and disengage scraper assembly from shank panels.



  3. Remove hub cap (C).

  4. CAUTION: Disk blades are sharp. Wear protective gloves and handle disks carefully to avoid being injured.

    NOTE: Do not discard spacer shims.

    Remove nut and flat washer (A).



  5. Remove blade (B).

  6. Remove hardened shims.

  7. If replacing blades, remove blade on opposite side of row unit. If only replacing seed tube guard, only left-hand blade removal is needed.

  8. Remove BrushBelt™ cartridge (A) from shank.

  9. NOTE: Replace BrushBelt™ guard, if excessively worn.

    Remove bolt (B). Remove BrushBelt™ guard (C) by rotating counterclockwise and sliding forward.



  10. Adjust blade contact point during reassembly. (See Inspect And Adjust Seed Opener Blades in this section.)

  11. During reassembly, tighten opener blade nut and gauge wheel arm cap screw to specification.
