Filling CCS™ Tanks
CAUTION:

A49921-UN-20AUG02
Never transport machine with CCS tanks more than half full.Avoid physical
or chemical injury from lids or chemicals blowing in to face. Do not
open tank lids when CCS™ fan is running. Seed lines plug if
CCS™ fan is running during fill.
Follow chemical manufacturers precautions when handling parts
coated with seed treatments. Use proper skin, eye, and respiratory
protection.
IMPORTANT: Remove any buildup of seed treatments or talc-graphite
between CCS™ tank fills. Avoid blockages at tank
nozzles. Keep seed free of debris.. Optional fill screen is available,
see your John Deere dealer.
Clean seed level sensor before filling seed tanks.
The first time a new tank is used, coat inside bottom of tank
with talc-graphite. Mix triple the amount of talc-graphite into the
first 2 or 3 bushels of seed placed in bulk tank. (See Meter Lubrication
section.)
Extra talc-graphite coats the inside of CCS™ system with
a protective layer to resist buildup of seed coatings. Add talc-graphite
as bulk tank is filled.
Avoid plugging delivery hoses at CCS™ tank. Tank agitators
always run when machine is lowered and tractor key is on. Do not run
agitator when CCS™ fan is off. If machine is lowered for extended
periods with seed in CCS™ tank, turn off tractor key or unplug
agitator.
Crops approved for delivery through the CCS™ system are
corn, soybeans, sorghum, cotton, sunflower, and sugar beat. All other
seed types must be placed directly in the row unit hoppers.
Row unit mini hopper extensions are available to provide more
capacity for planting non-CCS™ approved crops. See your John
Deere Dealer.
For best performance, level the seed in tanks after filling
to minimize amount of seed remaining in tanks when planting ends.
Use a 203 mm (8 in.) wide, stiff bristled broom with 1372 mm (4.5
ft.) handle to level seed in CCS™ tanks.
Close lids tightly after filling to avoid plugging of delivery
lines when CCS™ system is activated.
