Variable Rate Drive Motor and Valve

The variable rate drive motor and valve turns the seed meter drives at the correct speed to achieve the desired seed population at various grounds speeds. The solenoid valve receives electrical signals from the Planter Main 1 (PM1) controller and adjusts oil flow to the motor. There is one variable rate drive motor for each drive section on the planter.

Variable Rate Drive Motor Speed Sensor

A motor speed sensor is attached to the output shaft of each variable rate drive motor. The motor speed sensor provides a closed-loop feedback signal to the Planter Main 1 (PM1) controller to indicate the exact speed of the motor.

Parallel Arm Height Switch for Most Integral Planters

One or more parallel arm height switches are used to start and stop the variable rate drive motors on most integral planters. When the planter is raised, the switch signals the Planter Main 1 (PM1) controller to stop the variable rate drive motors. See ADJUST PARALLEL ARM HEIGHT SWITCH in this section. Height Sensor for Drawn Planters

The height sensor is used to start and stop the variable rate drive motors on drawn planters. When the planter is raised the height sensor signals the Planter Main 1 (PM1) controller to stop the variable rate drive motors. Variable Rate Drive Wheel Motion Sensor

The wheel motion sensor is used as a safety feature validating the ground speed signal from the radar or GPS receiver. The wheel motion sensor detects motion and indicates the planter is moving.
