Tank and Meter Housing Cleanout Procedure

CAUTION:

TS265-UN-23AUG88

To protect yourself from flying seed, fertilizer and debris, stay in the tractor cab while the fan is running.

If you must leave the cab with the fan running, wear protective clothing including face mask, gloves, and goggles.

Empty tanks and manually clean inside. (See Conveyance System and Tank Section for procedure.)

Fan generated air pressure can be used to clean product and residue from meter housings quickly.

For best results, clean out meter housing closest to fan first (front meter on tow-between, rear meter on tow-behind), before cleaning housing farthest from fan.

    A - Half-Width Disconnect Handles

    Cycle half-width disconnect handles (A).

  7. Clean all product off top of manifold.

  8. Clean all product and fine dust from meter housing with a long-handle brush or a vacuum cleaner.

  9. NOTE: Check slide for material build-up.

NOTE: When metering fertilizer it is recommended to cycle half-width disconnect and slide assembly on double shoot manifold daily. This prevents a build-up of fertilizer on these components.

Cycle slide on stationary double-shoot manifold.

  10. Remove caps from unused air tubes.

Start tractor and run fan for 30 seconds to remove product from tank and clean out passages of meter housing.

  14. Stop fan and turn off tractor.

  15. NOTE: When closing cleanout panels, slide panels to the outside of meter housing before locking. If panels are to the inside, half-width disconnect levers can bind on panels and not open or close completely when operated.
