Troubleshoot Hydraulic Drive System

SymptomProblemSolution

Warning: Verify power on pins 1 and 3.

No 12 volt power on ISO coupler pins 1 and 3.

Check pins 1 and 3 for 12 volt power.

Drive failure causing zero speed on specified tank.

No hydraulic pressure or flow.

Make sure hoses are correctly plugged into tractor SCV or power beyond.

Ensure load sense line is plugged into tractor.

Verify correct location of pressure and return lines on tractor and tool connections. A one way check valve is installed in the return line hose tip.

Low hydraulic pressure or flow to variable drive motors.

Maintain full tractor engine rpm.

Ensure load sense plug with orifice is correctly installed in tractor to build pressure in load sense line. See your John Deere dealer for additional information.

Minimize flow to other hydraulic functions.

Verify tractor hydraulic system performance.

No motor speed detected by controller.

Verify motor speed sensor electrical connections.

Verify motor speed sensor connection of motor coupler to motor speed shaft.

Verify hydraulic valve electrical connection.

Mechanical binding causing high torque.

Review meter cartridge for foreign material causing binding.

Review agitator in the tank for binding.

Identify and repair any other sources of mechanical binding.

Air Cart configuration does not match your set up.

Review Air Cart Setup.

Height Sensor calibrated/set incorrectly.

Recalibrate height sensor and check settings per operator’s manual.

Meter turning and specified meter commanded off.

Contamination in drive motor valve.

Perform motor flush operation.

Contact local John Deere Dealer.

Anti rotation strap on motor speed sensor loose.

Repair anti rotation strap on motor speed sensor.

Damaged wiring to solenoid on drive motor valve.

Repair damaged wiring.

Height Sensor calibrated/set incorrectly.

Recalibrate height sensor and check settings per operator’s manual.

Hydraulic valve for drive motor makes noise or is unstable.

Air in system.

Follow bleed procedure.

Hydraulic Drive Motor speed is erratic.

Contamination in hydraulic drive motor system.

Follow flush procedure.

Specified meter revolution exceeding specified meter revolutions.

Contamination in drive motor valve.

Perform motor flush procedure.

Contact local John Deere Dealer.

Replaced drive motor or motor valve without performing meter valve calibration.

Perform meter valve calibration.

Excessive ground speed.

Reduce operating speed.

Tire speed too high for good performance.

Tire speed sensor failure.

Contact local John Deere Dealer.

Low ground speed.

Increase operating speed.

Tire speed too low for good performance.

Tire speed sensor failure.

Contact local John Deere Dealer.

Tire speed sensor adjusted incorrectly.

Adjust tire speed sensor.

Unable to achieve meter rate.

No hydraulic pressure or flow.

Ensure hoses are correctly plugged into tractor SCV or power beyond.

Ensure load sense line is plugged into tractor.

Verify correct location of pressure and return lines on tractor and toll connections. A one way check valve is installed in the return line hose tip.

Mechanical binding causing high torque.

Identify and repair any other sources of mechanical binding.

Review meter cartridge for foreign material causing binding.

Review agitator in the tank for binding.

Air cart configuration does not match your set up.

Review air cart setup in monitor.

Motor turning backwards.

Pressure and return hoses connected to tractor incorrectly.

Ensure hose labels match tractor port locations.
