Attaching PTO-Driven Equipment
CAUTION:
Shut off engine and disengage PTO before attaching PTO-driven equipment.
CAUTION:
High-inertia implements do not come to a standstill the moment the PTO control lever is shifted to the disengaged position. Allow sufficient time for implements to "coast down" to a halt after disengaging the PTO.
CAUTION:
Always make sure the PTO is switched off and stopped, the tractor engine is stopped, and the ignition key removed before attempting to clean out, adjust or lubricate a PTO-driven machine, hitch or drive shaft.
1.
Align swinging drawbar (A) parallel to PTO shaft and lock it in position.
2.
Distance (B) from end of PTO shaft to hole in drawbar end should be 350 mm (13.8 in.) for the 540 rpm PTO and 400 mm (15.7 in.) for the 1000 rpm PTO.
If PTO splines do not align with the grooves on the drive shaft, move PTO control lever in a position marked with "N" while the engine is shut off, thus relieving hydraulic pressure and allowing the PTO shaft to be turned and aligned by hand.
