Select Correct Ground Travel Speed

Number of gears on tractors with:

SYNCROPLUS ™ transmission (30 km/h):

  • 12 forward gears, 4 reverse gears

Power Reverser (30 km/h):

  • 16 forward gears, 16 reverse gears

Power Reverser (40 km/h):

  • 16 forward gears, 16 reverse gears

POWRQUAD ™ transmission (30 km/h):

  • 16 forward gears, 16 reverse gears
  • 20 forward gears, 20 reverse gears

PowrQuad transmission (40 km/h):

  • 16 forward gears, 16 reverse gears
  • 24 forward gears, 24 reverse gears

PowrQuad transmission (50 km/h):

  • 24 forward gears, 24 reverse gears

NOTE: With the PowrQuad transmission, depending on equipment and legal requirements, there may in certain circumstances be only 16 or 12 reverse gears.

The tractor can be equipped with an additional creeper transmission that provides a further 9 gears (SyncroPlus transmission) or 12 gears (PowrQuad transmission).

Gears should be selected so as to avoid permanent overloading of the engine. Ground travel speeds with engine running at rated speed are shown on the following pages.

Should you wish to determine ground speed travel at other engine speeds, then proceed as follows:

Desired engine speed

2300 rpm

= Conversion factor

The conversion factor multiplied by the ground speed shown in the following table gives the ground travel speed at the desired engine speed.

Example:

Ground travel speed at 2300 rpm according to following table: 8.1 km/h; desired speed: 1400 rpm

1400 rpm

2300 rpm

= 0.61

8.1 km/h x 0.61 = 4.9 km/h

Should you wish to determine engine speed at a desired ground travel speed, proceed as follows:

Desired ground travel speed

Desired ground travel speed in table

= Conversion factor

The conversion factor multiplied by the rated speed gives you the desired engine rpm.

Example:

5.0 km/h

8.1 km/h

= 0.61

2300 rpm x 0.61 = 1400 rpm
