Checking Brake Operation

1. Shut off engine.

2. Uncouple brake pedals at coupler (A).

3. Wait at least five seconds after shutting off the engine. Then depress brake pedal (B), release it and depress it again (apply a force of approx. 250 N).

The depressed brake pedal must not drift downward by more than 29 mm (1.1 in.) in 10 to 12 seconds.

4. Perform the same check on brake pedal (C).

If the brake pedals drift downward more than specified, check the bleed screws and repeat the check. If the pedals still drift downward excessively, check the brake lines. If there is no leakage at the lines, there must be a leak in the brake valve. See your John Deere dealer.
