Bleeding the Brakes

causym CAUTION: Always follow precisely the steps described here. This is the only way to ensure that the tractor's brakes are bled properly.

NOTE: The oil must NOT be in a foamy condition when the brakes are bled. For this reason, do not bleed the brakes after driving at speed, performing work with the tractor's hydraulics or carrying out hydraulic tests. If necessary, park the tractor and wait one hour to allow the oil to settle.

Bleeding the Brake Valve

1. Slide a transparent bleed tube over bleed screw. Place the other end of bleed tube in a suitable receptacle.

2. Run the engine.

3. Slightly loosen bleed screw of brake valve.

IMPORTANT: When bleeding, be sure to turn the steering wheel SLOWLY and EVENLY, otherwise the oil in the reservoir may turn to foam and cause air to get into the brake system.

4. Keep turning the steering wheel slowly (!) and evenly from full lock to full lock. Depress the r.h. brake pedal and keep it depressed.

Slowly depress the l.h. brake pedal and slowly release it. Wait a short time and then repeat this process until the oil emerging from the brake is free of air bubbles. Tighten the bleed screw with the brake pedal depressed.

5. In the same way, carry out the bleeding procedure for the r.h. brake with the l.h. pedal depressed.

Bleeding the Rear Brakes

Order of bleeding:

1. Left rear brake
2. Right rear brake

1. As shown in the illustration, slide two transparent bleed tubes over the bleed screws. Place the other ends of the two bleed tubes in the oil filler neck.

2. Run the engine. Slacken off the relevant bleed screw as stipulated in "Order of Bleeding".

IMPORTANT: When bleeding, be sure to turn the steering wheel SLOWLY and EVENLY, otherwise the oil in the reservoir may turn to foam and cause air to get into the brake system.

3. Keep turning the steering wheel slowly (!) and evenly from full lock to full lock. Keep actuating the relevant brake pedal and releasing it slowly until the oil emerging from the brake is free of air bubbles. Tighten the bleed screw with the brake pedal depressed.

4. Pump the pedal up and down until pressure has built up . Stop pumping and keep the pedal depressed while opening the bleed screw. When the bleed screw is opened, the pedal sinks until it can sink no further. Tighten the bleed screw with the brake pedal depressed. Repeat this procedure at least 5 times.

5. Bleed the brake valve again.

IMPORTANT: After bleeding, individually depress each brake pedal sharply to make sure that the corresponding rear brake piston is in its end position.

6. Check brake operation again.
