Headland Management System HMS II (If Equipped) - Basic Principles

causym CAUTION: Using HMS by mistake may cause the tractor or implement to make unexpected movements. For this reason, always delete the sequence of operations as soon as work is finished.

IMPORTANT: A front loader must NOT be operated using HMS. Make sure that the value 000 is keyed in at address SIC041 before operating the front loader. See "Customization" in the "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" section.

HMS II makes it possible to record and save sequences of functions that occur repeatedly and to call them up as programs when needed (tape recorder principle). Two such programs can be stored at any one time. Each of them can include up to 20 functions. The programs remain in the memory until they are cancelled, even if the electrical current is switched off.

Recordings may be made of the functions of the following tractor sub-assemblies: differential lock, rockshaft, rear PTO, front PTO, front-wheel drive and selective control valves.

The distance the tractor moves between functions is also stored. The recording is therefore not dependent on the tractor's speed.

Sample programming (end/start of field)

Initial situation: tractor operating in field, front and rear implements are lowered, front-wheel drive is on, rear PTO is on.

  Step Signal
1. Press switch (A) Acoustic signal, light (D) comes on
2. Press switch (B) Acoustic signal every 2 seconds, light (D) flashes
3. Press switch (C) or (G) to "1" or "2" Light (E) or (F) flashes
4. Raise rear implement *
5. Switch off rear PTO *
6. Raise front implement (using electronic selective control valve) **
7. Switch off front-wheel drive **
8. Press switch (B) **
Light (E) or (F) goes out, light (D) remains on continuously (not flashing)
* The tractor must be driven at a speed of at least 0.5 km/h (0.31 mph).
** This step may be performed with the tractor stationary (clutch depressed)

Performing the stored programs

NOTE: To enable the recorded programs to be performed, the tractor must be driven at a speed of at least 0.5 km/h (0.31 mph).

Before programs are performed that include front-wheel drive and/or PTO functions, front-wheel drive and/or the PTO(s) must be switched on. HMS II cannot physically "turn on" the relevant switches.

Before programs are performed that include rockshaft and/or SCV functions, the relevant levers/switches must be in their neutral positions.

1. Pressing on/off switch (A) makes HMS II indicator light (D) come on.

2. To select the desired program, press program switch (C) or (G) to "1" or "2". Program indicator light (E) or (F) will come on. This light goes out once the program has been completed.
