Shifting the AutoQuad Plus Transmission
Gears are shifted by means of range shift lever (A), gear shift keys (B) - or by gear shift switch (D) - and reverse drive lever (C).
Before starting the engine, move reverse drive lever (C) to its neutral position. To drive away,
first
move range shift lever (A) to the desired range and then move the reverse drive lever to the desired direction of travel.
CAUTION:
If the reverse drive lever is actuated when the engine is running and a range is selected, the tractor will start to move.
The clutch pedal must be depressed to change the ranges. There is no need to depress the clutch pedal to shift gear or to change the direction of travel. When changing ranges from approx. 7 km/h (4.4 mph), an automatic function ensures that the gear selected matches the travel speed. This automatic function can be suppressed by holding down one of the gear-shift keys.
To park the tractor, move reverse drive lever (C) to its neutral position, then engage park lock at the range shift lever (A).
IMPORTANT:
Engage park lock only when the tractor is stationary.

NOTE:
If shift lever (A) is moved to its park position when reverse drive lever (C) is not in neutral, an acoustic signal is triggered and the letter "N" starts to flash. When the engine shuts off, the reverse drive lever remains in its selected position but the transmission shifts into neutral. If the reverse drive lever is not in neutral when the engine is started, an acoustic signal is triggered and the letter "N" starts to flash to alert the operator to this situation. If the reverse drive lever is moved out of neutral while park lock is engaged, an acoustic signal is triggered. To make the tractor move, first put the reverse drive lever in neutral and then move it to the desired position.
Engine-speed matching when shifting gears
For a smoother shift, engine speed is temporarily matched by the electronic system. See "Customization" in the "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" section.
Optimum gear-shifting for driving under load (transport):
1.
Select a range suitable for driving away under load.
2.
Engage the first gear.
3.
Drive away and change up through the ranges until the top range is reached.
4.
Change up through the gears.
Cold-weather operation
If the oil is cold (0°C, 32°F), it may affect how the reverse drive lever operates. At temperatures below -10° C (14° F), it may take longer to change the direction of travel. Automatic engine-speed matching is de-activated at temperatures below +5°C (41°F).
In certain circumstances, the reverse drive lever may have to be actuated several times before the tractor starts to move. When the oil has had time to warm up, operation becomes normal again.
"Come-home" mode
Under certain circumstances, the tractor can still be driven even if there is an electrical fault in the transmission.

To do this, stop the engine, remove plug K10/4 (relay box K10) and re-install it at a position 90° from its original position. The wording "Come Home" must be uppermost.
NOTE:
In the come-home mode, engine speed is limited to 1500 rpm and only the first gear in each range is available.
Additional Functions
There are four further functions: "Automatic gear shifting", "Programmable highest gear in automatic gear shifting", "Forward/reverse gear programming" and Cruise control.

Automatic gear shifting
This automatic function is activated by pressing switch (A) once.
The gears in each range are shifted in relation to the position of the hand throttle or accelerator pedal as soon as engine speed reaches a maximum or minimum value. These values can be set at control knob (B).
The automatic function can be de-activated by pressing switch (A) once again or by selecting a gear manually.
IMPORTANT:
"Eco mode" is suitable ONLY for light work in the field and for driving on roads when the load being pulled is not heavy.
Eco mode:
Hand throttle / accelerator pedal more than 85% towards top speed and engine revs over 1872 rpm: transmission shifts up.
Hand throttle / accelerator pedal more than 55% towards top speed and engine revs under 1300 rpm: transmission shifts down.
Hand throttle / accelerator pedal less than 55% towards top speed and engine revs under 1100 rpm: transmission shifts down.
Power mode:
Hand throttle / accelerator pedal more than 85% towards top speed and engine revs over 2240 rpm: transmission shifts up.
Hand throttle / accelerator pedal more than 55% towards top speed and engine revs under 1720 rpm: transmission shifts down.
Hand throttle / accelerator pedal less than 55% towards top speed and engine revs under 1100 rpm: transmission shifts down.
Intermediate settings:
The engine speeds at which the transmission shifts can be customized at control knob (B) to change the shift point to an intermediate level between the Eco mode and Power mode speeds.

Programmable highest gear in automatic gear shifting
NOTE:
For programming, automatic gear shifting must be switched off.
In addition to activating the automatic gear-shift function, switch (A) may be used to determine the highest possible gear. The following applies:
-
Press once = the highest gear is 4th.
-
Press twice (briefly) in succession = the highest gear is 3rd.
-
Press three times (briefly) in succession = the highest gear is 2nd.
This setting is lost as soon as automatic gear shifting is switched off.
In the example opposite, the current gear (B) is 2nd, and the highest possible gear (C) is 3rd (there are three bars).

Forward/reverse gear programming
For shuttle-shifting, the relationship between forward and reverse gears can be programmed from a maximum of 3 gears higher in reverse to 3 gears lower (+3 to -3).
Do this by moving the range shift lever (A) to its park position while the engine is running. Move reverse drive lever (B) to its neutral position and pull it upwards. The desired relationship can now be set by pressing the upshift/downshift buttons (C) once or several times (see sample displays opposite). +3 means: the tractor will drive in reverse up to 3 gears higher than it will in forward.
The programmed relationship remains in effect when automatic gear shifting is switched off, and is stored after ignition is switched off.
NOTE:
When automatic gear shifting is activated, a programmed "highest possible gear" takes priority over the programmed relationship.

Cruise control
Maximum engine speed can be limited for PTO operation by means of cruise control (A). Move the hand throttle lever to full throttle, then reduce engine speed at control knob (A).
In the lowest setting, engine speed is limited to 1400 rpm. In the highest setting, the engine can run at maximum speed. Individual engine speed limits can be set between these two positions.
If no PTO operation is taking place, cruise control (A) should be in its maximum speed position or in the "Off" position.
