Transmission Oil Filter

A - Drain Screw in Differential Housing

B - Drain Screw in Front-Wheel Drive Clutch

C - Drain Screw on Transmission

D - Hydraulic Oil Filter

E - Transmission Oil Filter

  1. Start the engine and actuate a few hydraulic functions so that the oil heats up.

  2. Park tractor so that it is level. Lower draft links, front loader, front implements and other implements that draw oil from the transmission.

  3. Shut off engine and remove ignition key.

  4. Engage park.

  5. Take out drain screws (A), (B) and (C) and drain the oil into a suitable container. For capacities, see Specifications.

    After draining the oil, put new seal rings on drain screws (A), (B) and (C) and tighten them.

  6. Unscrew hydraulic oil filter (D) and transmission filter (E).

  7. Coat sealing rings of new filter elements with grease and screw in filter elements.

    Use original John Deere filter elements only!

    IMPORTANT: Always replace both filters at the same time. Never change one only.

    Intake Screen on Tractors with AutoPowr/IVT™

    A - Drain Plug (50 Nm; 37 lb.-ft.)

    B - Plug (50 Nm; 37 lb.-ft.)

    C - Intake Screen

    Remove plug (B) and take out intake screen (C). Clean area around intake screen, install screen and tighten plug to 50 Nm (37 lb.-ft.).



  2. Before refilling with fresh oil, replace seals and tighten drain screw to 50 Nm (37 lb.-ft.).

  3. Add transmission/hydraulic oil to the transmission case. For capacities, see Specifications.


Check the oil level

Run the engine briefly and operate several hydraulic functions. Shut off the engine.

Wait for between 10 and 15 minutes before checking the oil level. It must be between the marks on the sight-glass. If not, correct oil level.
