Transmission and Hydraulic Oil

Use oil with a viscosity based on the expected air temperature range during the period between oil changes.

The following oils are preferred:

  • John Deere HY-GARD™
  • John Deere HY-GARD LOW VISCOSITY

Other oils may be used if they meet one or more of the following:

  • John Deere Standard JDM J20C
  • John Deere Standard JDM J20D

Use John Deere BIO-HY-GARD II™1 when a biodegradable fluid is required.

IMPORTANT: On tractors with IVT:

Only John Deere HY-GARD™ or John Deere BIO-HY-GARD II™ may be used.

Do NOT use HY-GARD LOW VISCOSITY. Do NOT use oils that meet John Deere specification JDM J20D.

1 These oils meet or exceed the minimum biodegradability of 80 % within 21 days according to CEC L-33-A-93 (BIO-HY-GARD II). These oils should not be mixed with mineral oils because this reduces the biodegradability and makes proper oil recycling impossible.
