A - Key with Chip and Transponder for Communication with the Immobilizer

B - Conventional Key without Additional Function

A tractor equipped with an immobilizer can be operated only with a special key (A) which has a chip and a valid enabling code. Conventional keys (B) and keys with codes that are not recognized by the immobilizer cannot be used. The tractor can be started with them, but the engine only runs briefly before shutting off automatically. Further attempts to start tractor result in the tractor engine turning over, but not starting.

After attempting to start with the wrong key by mistake: Insert a valid key in the ignition and switch on the ignition >DO NOT START<. Wait at least 3 seconds before starting the engine.

NOTE: Immobilizer keys (A) can be identified because they are slightly thicker than a normal ignition key (B). Immobilizer keys function only on tractors for which they have been programmed.

Tractors equipped with an immobilizer are provided with two keys before they leave the factory. Up to three additional keys can be ordered through your John Deere™ dealer.

IMPORTANT: If a key is lost, contact your John Deere™ dealer immediately. The dealer can reprogram the immobilizer so that the lost key will not start the tractor. Thus, if anyone finds the key, he will not be able to operate the tractor with it.

NOTE: To allow the tractor to be operated efficiently, it is recommended that any lost keys be replaced as soon as possible.
