Load on Rear Wheels
When dimensioning the load on the rear wheels, make sure that
around 10-15% slip remains when work is performed with the tractor.
This is the range within which the maximum traction is achieved.
However, the load on the rear wheels should only be large enough
that, at 7 km/h (4.3 mph), the engine is working at full capacity
at rated speed. If overload is possible, or if it is possible to stall
the engine below 7 km/h (4.3 mph) , the load on the rear wheels is
too high.
Too little ballast leads to:
-
Excessive slippage and the resulting reduced traction
-
Increased tire wear
-
High fuel usage
Too much ballast leads to:
-
Increased roll resistance and the resulting reduced traction
-
Load on tires and transmission too high
-
Soil compaction
-
High fuel usage
NOTE: It is not permissible to use more than 3 rear wheel weights
per wheel. Additionally the legal stipulations regarding the max.
permissible tractor width have to be observed.
