Change the Fuel Filters - 4-Cylinder Engines

CAUTION: Shut off engine and remove ignition key.

IMPORTANT:

• Always change both filters.
• Dispose of drained fuel and used filters in accordance with local laws and ordinances.
• DO NOT prime fuel filter with fuel.

1. Change secondary fuel filter.

   1. Clean exterior of filter and surrounding area.

   2. Disconnect connector (B) from water sensor.

   3. Open the drain valve and drain fuel into a suitable container.

   4. Loosen and remove filter (A).

   5. Remove the water separator from the filter.

   6. Clean the sealing ring of the water separator and lubricate with fuel.

   7. Attach the water separator to the new filter.

   8. Lubricate the sealing ring of the new filter with fuel.

   9. Install new filter on the base. Tighten filter another 3/4 turn after seal contacts the mounting surface.

   10. Reconnect connector (B).

2. Replace fuel precleaner filter.

   1. Clean exterior of filter and surrounding area.

   2. Loosen and remove filter (C). Catch draining fuel with a suitable container.

   3. Lubricate the sealing ring of the new filter with fuel.

   4. Position new filter (C) and tighten.

3. Put the fuel filter into operation.

   1. Turn the key in the ignition switch to the right to the first switching position and let the fuel transfer pump run for about 120 seconds. Repeat as necessary.

   2. Start and run engine at fast idle for at least 2 minutes.
